Walleye, Pike & Bass Fishing:

Although the fishing is good most of the summer, nothing compares to the walleye fishing in the Bay of Quinte during the month of May and early June. The Napanee Rod and Gun Club "Walleye" Derby & Tournament, attracts about 8,000 participants annually and expects to maintain or increase that number over the next few years!

Opening Day for pickerel in this area is the first Saturday in May and runs until March 1st of the following year. The Northern Pike season on the Bay of Quinte is similar to the Walleye season and opens the first Saturday in May and closes March 31st the following year. Bass season is open from the third Saturday in June through until November 30 each year. The office at Mohawk Bay Park proudly displays some trophies in all three categories - all caught by our campers.

We do have a fish-cleaning table, complete with newspaper & plastic bags for left-overs, and a stone to hone a good edge on your knife. If you are a novice, we will show you how to fillet your fish; and we provide freezer space free of charge. A good scale is also beside the table so you can weigh in your catch.

A season-long fishing competition for our campers is posted beside the table to promote a little friendly rivalry, and add some excitement to catching "the big one"! Boats - Of course with the fishing so good, we do rent boats for those campers who do not bring their own. Our boats are sturdy 14' aluminum with 5 h.p. motors - for perfect trolling in our waters. 12' and 14' boats are also available if you have your own motor. Our boats are very busy, so advance reservations are strongly recommended!

If you have your own boat, it can be launched at our ramp; and dockage is available for boats up to 16' in length. If your boat is bigger, full service slips are available at a marina located less than a mile from the park.
